Busy While Waiting

The Wait number will be moving again soon! I am so excited! It is going ever so slowly, yet quickly all at the same time. I still have about 8 weeks to wait, but I have not been idle! I have purchased some items for my Jewelry bar. I was able to find a beautiful satin turquoise table cloth that has a shiny side and a more muted plain side at amazon for a great discount! I also scored one of the white owl figurines and a beautiful necklace tree! Pics to come soon!
I have been getting so many comments on my locket lately! I can’t wait to be a full time Origami Owl Designer! I already have 6 people who want to book shows with me. I hope to get them on my calendar in the next few weeks as I get closer to my official invite! I really know I am going to hit the ground running and love it!
I have been working through the “What to do while waiting” list and have gotten a lot of them accomplished. I am very busy getting books and curriculum to prepare for homeschooling my two children this year. This summer has gone by way too fast, but it has been a good one. It is nice to be able to get things ready for my new business on a slow paced wait so that I can also give attention to my duties as a mom. Once I get the official invite I can just start holding jewelry bars and already have all the start up prep done and be good to go.
If you are thinking at all about joining Origami Owl, I would highly recommend getting on the wait list. As it is now, there are over 18,000 on the wait list and they only invite 2000 to join as Designers a week! That is a long wait! So don’t hesitate to get on the wait list!!!! You can use my DIW # EEEFYDIW and name Jolene Harrison to sign up and follow the “What to do while waiting” Post that I posted earlier to help get started! If you get on the wait list you just may be invited as a Designer in time to hold jewelry bars for Christmas shopping!! Send me an email to let me know you signed up!

DIW List of what to do while Waiting!

I have already posted the Do’s and Don’ts for the DIW’s. This post is a list of things you can do while you wait to get yourself ready to go once you become an official Origami Owl Designer.
1. Purchase a locket and wear it every day!
2. Make a note on your phone or have a notebook and pen handy to write down names and information on those who express interest in your business or who want to host a party.
3. Start saving now so that when you get the invitation you have the option to buy the starter kit (remember that tax and shipping will be extra when you purchase your kit) The Starter Kit is $149 plus tax and shipping.
4. Start thinking about creating a dedicated email address for your business
5. Think about a dedicated phone number for your business. Google Voice lets you create numbers that will then forward to your cell phone or home phone. visit http://www.google.com/voice
6. Update your contact list and start compiling your list of friends, family, relatives, coworkers, neighbors and parents of your children’s friends.
7. Consider dates for your launch party and/or open house
8. Buy a calendar and block out any dates you know you will not be available so you have it ready to start booking your Jewelry Bars.
9. Have meetings with your Mentor**, shadow her Jewelry Bars, Hold a catalog party or host your own show. Use the product credit to start building your own collection.
**If you do not have a Mentor I would be happy to Mentor you! Just give me a call or message me!
10. Purchase your office supplies (pens, paper clips, folders, calculator, envelopes, organizer, stamps)
11. Keep track of all your purchases for the business and your logged hours in an excel spreadsheet. This will help you know when you become an official Designer and start selling how much you need to break even (profit/expenses).
12. Find an online spreadsheet to help you calculate your business income and expenses. Get familiar with it so it is all ready to go once you start!
13. Create a dedicated space in your home for your business supplies and inventory.
14. Share the Origami Owl career opportunity with others while you wait! You may not be able to sell Origami Owl products until you become an official designer, but you can certainly build your team! Set Goals and go for them! Get your friends to add themselves to the wait list and ask them to send you their wait list #. Once you enroll as a designer, you will give them YOUR designer id and they will enroll under you and will be on your team.
  • To add people to the wait list have them visit www.origamiowl.com and click join. They will enter YOUR DIW confirmation number and your name as the designer in waiting who referred them.  Once they join, ask them to send you their confirmation email so that you have their number.
15. Open a checking account for your business. Some accounts have bonus points that can be redeemed for gift cards, merchandise and travel rewards. So do some research!
16. Start talking to people! You have to wait until you are official before you can publish a Facebook page or an Instagram profile, but you can start gathering pictures of lockets and any other related stuff so you are ready to go once you are a Designer!
17. Start getting items for your Jewelry Bar. Origami Owl has a blue (turquoise) and white theme. So try to stick with items of that color. Collect Owl type items and other showcase pieces to have on your table. Some showcase items will come with your Kit, but other items can be found if you look around while out shopping! Just keep your eyes open for those gems!
18. Start researching information on card readers. Many guests like to pay with credit cards, so make sure you are familiar with whichever method you choose. Origami Owl has a partnership with Pay Anywhere, but you can also use paypal, and one other credit card input method. I will research this more thoroughly and post it in my next blog post.
Are you ready to get on the wait list now that you have a plan as to what to do? The time is now. Let’s do this. If you are ready, I am ready to help you be an Origami Owl Star! Go to www.origamiowl.com and click join. Enter MY DIW confirmation number EEEFYDIW and my name, Jolene Harrison as the designer in waiting who referred you.  Once you join, send me your confirmation email so that I have your DIW number and email address, name and information.

I'm on the Designer in Waiting (DIW) List!

Hello Friends!
I have done it! I have signed up to become part of the Origami Owl team and got myself placed on the Wait List!!! I am so excited!!! So, you are probably wondering just what I am so excited about by being on a waiting list! Don’t we always find ourselves WAITING?????
Waiting in line at the grocery store….
Waiting for the elevator….
Waiting for vacation to come….
I know, I am on the waiting list and it just seems like it will be forever before I can become an official Designer!
But no worries here! While I wait there is OH so much I can do to get this amazing new business off the ground and I just am bursting at the seams to share it with you who are probably wanting to get in on the wait list too!
Some details I have gleaned from my Up Line Mentor and from some research on the internet – Most important -
The Do’s and Don’ts of a Designer in Waiting:
What Activities May DIW Engage In?
1. Hosting a party
2. Shadowing a Party
3. Hosting a catalog or virtual party
4. Assisting a Designer at an event
5. ADDING TEAM MEMBERS
DIW’s Need to Refrain From:
1. You cannot hold any shows on your own until you are official.
2. You cannot represent yourself as a Designer until you have your official Designer ID.
3. You cannot create business cards
4. You cannot create Facebook or other social media pages stating your are a Designer.
5. You cannot book events in the name of Origami Owl
6. You cannot make media appearances.
7. You cannot sell any product
8. Using or advertising Origami Owl media
As DIW’s we really want to be careful not to misrepresent ourselves or the company before we are official Designers! It is so worth the wait! My Mentor is awesome and I have learned a lot just in the few days I have been on the wait list.
Now you may not be able to do the above things but as you can see accordingly to what I first listed there is a ton of things you can do to get ready to launch your Origami Owl business.
I hope to be an official Designer by this Fall just in time for Christmas!! So exciting!
So, if you are contemplating joining this amazing company, get on the wait list NOW!! You can always change your mind when you get the official invitation, but the longer you wait to get on the list, the longer you will have to wait on the other side! There are over 18,000 on the wait list. That works out to be about 9 weeks if they are inviting only 2000 people a week! (not all will become Designers, but still!!) What are you waiting for?
I will post more information as I get it from my  Mentor and from my research. I hope to compile an entire list and have it all in one place just for you!
